The Los Angeles 2018 Show was a very important event for the American division of Nissan. In this room, updates of two historical models of the line, Nissan Murano and Nissan Maxima, models that no longer enjoy the importance of before, but that remain fundamental pieces within the strategy of the Japanese manufacturer in that market. In both cases, half-life upgrades were carried out, including a light aesthetic facelift, designed only to slightly refresh the image of both models and not a revolution in terms of design. In the case of the sedan we can not say that its presentation was a surprise, because the Japanese brand had already revealed an image of the new model when it released the first teaser of the launch of this facelift. So that a few weeks ago we could see the aesthetic news of the new Maxima 2019. At that moment the brand presented a digital recreation that only showed the front of the sedan, but now we can not only see the definitive official images, from all possible perspectives, including the luxurious interior. The new Nissan Maxima 2019 features a visibly modified front, where the V-Motion grille takes a little more prominence and continues its lines on the hood. The bumper also receives some modifications and new features, but where the news are more noticeable are in the new headlights, where we find another interior distribution with new elements in LED.

On the sides we will only find as new the new wheels, which can reach to be of 19 inches in the finish SR, the most sport of the line. In the rear part also appear some touches in the bumper and in the lanterns, besides 4 exits of exhaust, a little exaggerated for a model with this positioning and front traction. At the mechanical level we continue to find the same aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 304 hp and 354 Nm of maximum torque. This block is exclusively associated with the front wheels through a continuous variable type Xtronic automatic transmission. The composition of the line will not find news either, as it will continue to be composed of five finishing levels: S, SV and SL will make up the regular line, and as a sports option we find the SR level and the top-of-the-line version is the Platinum finish.

A totally different sedan than any already presented by Nissan. A vehicle design that represents a new era for four wheel drive. Dubbed ‘Altima-te AWD’, this project is based on the all-new Nissan Altima AWD 2019 and maintains Nissan’s tradition of creating unique exemplars of aggressive models equipped with a rugged track system. The production version of the Nissan Altima 2019 is also totally different from any sedan Nissan has ever presented. In addition to being the first sedan in North America to offer four-wheel drive, the Altima 2019 receives the AWD system as standard in Canada. “This is not a Altima of the past, as we are redefining the meaning of this historic name for the 2019 model. Practically absent from the sedans market, we wanted to highlight the four-wheel drive configuration of this model, since people usually have no idea a sedan can offer the AWD system, “commented Joni Paiva, president of Nissan Canada. “Altima-te AWD joins other crossover models created in unique, caterpillar-equipped models such as the Rogue Warrior, sending a clear message to the market that this Altima can withstand the harshest weather conditions with the added security offered by the Nissan Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, which is a standard item and adapts to the shooting conditions in the blink of an eye, “explains Paiva.

Transforming the best Altima ever seen

The caterpillars measure 1,220 mm in length, 750 mm in height and 380 mm in width. The AWD Altima-te required more radical modifications in terms of bodywork and chassis compared to the changes made in the Rogue Warrior vehicle design. The most obvious external modification is seen in the Altima’s front and rear mudguards, which received 180 mm mudguards on each side to accommodate the DOMINATOR track system, increasing the overall body width by 360 mm. Thus, the Altima has a distinctly imposing presence, maintaining the fluid lines and essence of the sedan’s design. To modify the mudguards, the MIA team applied a complex process that involved the design and production of a tailor-made wider body kit, as well as the production of mudguards through the use of high-density foam and epoxy resin, a material normally found in nautical structures. This process alone totaled 150 hours of work. The total project took 250 hours to complete. Radar stops allow a reduction in snow projections, which can hinder or even hinder the driver’s visibility. In order for the Altima-te AWD to be fully functional, the driving height of the vehicle needed to be increased. MIA designed and produced the necessary components to increase the vehicle by 80 mm, which in turn required a 30 mm reduction in the height of the chassis members; the components of the suspension were already raised by 50 mm. The geometry of the suspension was corrected to compensate for the deviation caused by the change in driving height and to restore proper kinematics. Altima-te AWD will be on display during the opening days of the 2019 Montreal Salon. In February, he will also be exhibited at the Nissan booth at the Canada Hall, which takes place in Toronto.

In a world dominated by SUVs, some brands are still betting on the sedans, which are often directed to the North American market, where this type of body still has very good acceptance, especially in the United States. Taking advantage of the New York Motor Show 2018, which will start in a matter of hours, the Japanese brand has just presented the first official images and information of the new generation of the Nissan Altima, which is fully updated both inside and outside, the purpose of continuing to attract those interested in this type of vehicle. Outwardly the new Nissan Altima accompanies the design present in the latest launches of the Japanese brand, highlighting its front with the grid in the shape of the letter ‘V’ and a general aspect of a more aggressive and strong character. The light alloy wheels up to 19 inches, the discreet aerofoil rear mounted on the trunk lid and the double exhaust pipes, are in charge of giving a sporty touch to the set. As for the interior, the new Nissan Altima 2019 conveys an image of comfort and superior quality, thanks in part to the excellent materials used to cover most surfaces. Of note is the infotainment system with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that includes Bluetooth, USB and multiple connectivity options, as well as compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Japanese manufacturer unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show the new generation of the Mazda3 in both its hatchback and sedan version. The fourth edition of this compact proposal, which ushered in a new stage for the Japanese manufacturer, reveals a dust car covers that shows a profile very similar to the  Mazda Kai Concept , which the brand presented at the Tokyo Motor Show 2017. Although for the time being the manufacturer did not give precise details about its mechanics, we know that the new generation of Mazda3 debuts the new family of engines SKYACTIV-X. In relation to its exterior design, the new ‘3’ presents a body of fluid lines, which in the case of hatchback body stands out for its huge rear pillar, one of its main identity passwords. In addition to the logical differences, both bodies have an almost similar design, with an identical front part where LED technology is not lacking. The interior has also undergone a thorough overhaul and presents itself with a minimalist, more spacious design with new materials and details more care for the purpose of improving perceived quality. With an almost total absence of conventional buttons, the interior is stripped down, with a floating screen located in the center console with tactile controls and configurable digital instrumentation taking all the leading role. The most relevant equipment includes a complete set of roadside assistance and the latest technologies in terms of connectivity.

The new Mazda3 2019 also features a new family of SKYACTIV-X engines, including relevant technical innovations, including compression ignition technology, with an initial offering that will include the SKYACTIV-G 1.5, SKYACTIV- G 2.0 and in diesel the SKYACTIV-D 1.8, but for now the manufacturer has not revealed what their characteristics will be. The propellers can be coupled to a manual or automatic transmission, in both cases of six speeds, and can be associated with an integral traction system.

2016 – MAZDA MX-5 CLUB

– The small Mazda roadster gets a new look for its commercialization in the USA. It receives a series of components that change both the performance and its exterior design, without letting go the infotainment system with a central screen and Bose audio equipment.

Presented at the New York Motor Show, the Mazda MX-5 Club 2016 is a special edition designed for the select North American market. The Mazda North American Operation division has developed a series of aesthetic and performance improvements designed for the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter engine with a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. Weighing in at 1,058 kg, the Mazda MX-5 features a set of 17-inch alloy wheels with 205/45 tires, or optionally it is possible to choose forged BBS wheels to the same extent with a Brembo brake set. If equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission, the MX-5 will have limited slip differential, Bilstein dampers and a torsion bar for the front suspension. Aesthetically, the model features a splitter and air intakes in the front bumper, satin-black rearview mirror housings, a small spoiler over the trunk lid and a rear diffuser also in satin-black finish that wraps around the exhaust outlets. Inside, the MX-5 Club is equipped with the MAZDA CONNECT infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen and a new sound system with nine speakers signed by Bose.

The new Mazda MX-5 has become one of the models preferred by the preparers, especially the Japanese. This time it is the Japanese preparer Kuhl Racing who presents his show involving the small roadster, with a preparation that left the small Japanese with a very aggressive aspect. Thanks to the new body kit, aesthetic elements have been added, such as a rear bumper incorporating a diffuser and an airfoil. It also has new alloy wheels and a lowered suspension. The Mazda exhaust system has also been modified, so it now incorporates a ‘Slash 2’ so the engine’s snoring is a bit more radical.
